I have used half a dozen version a control systems over the last 25 years and I doubt either of us knows exactly what is going with git when you execute a given command.

If you have never looked at the source code for it to try and work out what is going to fix an issue then I'm sure you don't.

It still mind bending when I discover stuff like hard coded routines for with files written in specific languages.
